"Things seem to be getting worse here, than it ever was. In all the counties below this, there are Bushwhackers Rebels, raids fights and also individual shooting, and men killed in all directions. The Rebels of this county have been indicted for Treason, and there will be extensive trials. You speak of coming to the States. I am unable to advise you on the subject. Hoping that you may do the best you can, we remain your father and mother
