The Story of Raymond Gunn
The story of Raymond Gunn begins in 1925. Gunn rose to prominence after his conviction for assault. Following this incident, Gunn gained a reputation for violence against school teachers and a growing criminal record.
On a cold night in December of 1930, a young school teacher in Maryville was murdered. Velma Coulter was discovered in the schoolhouse where she taught. She had been badly beaten to death.
On January 12, 1931, Gunn was taken by a mob to the Garrett Schoolhouse. He was chained to the building and burned alive while the mob watched.
