Dress and Deployment
1987-1989
The Army introduced battle dress uniforms during these years. These uniforms were descendants of the tropical combat uniforms that were used in Vietnam and were made of a cotton type material.
Lloyd Graham, Jr., wore this uniform during peacetime. His uniform reminds us that even though the United States may not always be at war, we still have military personnel.
During the 1980s the Army introduced the woodland camo and desert camo. The woodland camo and desert camo were only given to special operations troops and those who were stationed in the Middle East during 1980s and 1990s. These types of camo have now become the norm in our military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan.
