Canning
Maryville Canning Center
Canning was another technique used by Nodaway County for food conservation during WWII. The Maryville Community Canning Center was established in June of 1944 at the Maryville High School. It was open six days a week from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., or by scheduling appointments. The canning center helped community members preserve their victory garden yields for long periods of time, which allowed for the people of Nodaway County to be able to use less food in the agriculture supply.
