Dona Miller - Guilford Township

Not only did women have to support the war and help supply the military, they were responsible for maintaining the household while most men were away at war. Dona Miller from Guilford Township in Nodaway County had her own “Rosie the Riveter” story. She travelled to Kansas City on the Chicago and Great Western railroad every Sunday evening for a week of welding and other airplane work. Then on Friday evening she would come home to help her parents care for her three young daughters. There are many other similar stories of women like Dona’s during WWII in Nodaway County.
