Lester Swaney

Born on March 20th in 1915 on a farm around Hopkins, Missouri, Lester Swaney found himself drafted when he was in the middle of starting up a very successful horse raising business. Because of this, while on his military tour of duty, Swaney wrote to his wife as much as possible with specific guidelines on how to properly run their horse ranch in his absence.

At one point during the war, part of Swaney’s unit was attached to a British-led movement in Southeast Asia. Because of this, Swaney moved to Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand.
